Happy Canada Day!

Long weekends are wonderful, aren’t they? Hubby worked on July 1 (Thurs), but had the Friday off, giving us an extra full day together. While he was working, my friend Micah and I attended a fabulous pool party (though nobody actually swam in the pool). The party was hosted by a friend of mine from high school, Sandy. The thing is, back in high school, we did not run with the same group of friends. We’ve only reconnected this year, through Sonya. Sandy is this super sweet and incredibly intelligent person. I especially love her quick wit. Anyway, the party was so much fun and the weather was perfect for it. It’s too bad that Nelson couldn’t be there.

On Friday, Nelson and I had lunch at Centennial Park as Canada day is the rib fest weekend. We usually each get a rack each, from different providers, but this year we shared a rack from Thirsty Cactus and we also split a bloomin’ onion. Talk about a really heavy lunch. We only managed to finish half the rack and half the onion. That evening, we attended a party of a friend of Nelson’s. She recently moved to Toronto and she has an awesome loft – the perfect space for parties. It’s always great to see Micah, Elise, Alex and Michelle.

We managed to play some tennis this weekend too, though tennis is much harder in the sweltering heat. We’re currently in the midst of a heat wave in Toronto and the next 4 days are supposed to be really bad. I’m not sure how I will manage playing Ultimate and tennis this week. Lots of water will be required for sure. We had dim sum with both our families over the weekend as well. Check out Paradise (5505 Leslie St, Toronto, ON) – the food is good and the prices are reasonable.

I leave you with this picture from rib fest. What was the guy in the truck thinking when he decided to park behind the car?

The guy in the truck is not considerate about how the car in front of him to get out.

The Paradise food was reasonable that day b/c I use my membership card. So we saved on the tea ($2/person and 10% discount on the dimsum). You can borrow my membership card any time.
