I’ve been using a smart phone for about a year and half and I don’t think I can ever go back to a regular cell phone. iPad and touch-screen tablet users, though still a small group, are growing steadily. When the iPad was first released, 3 million were sold in 80 days. What does this mean for web designers and developers? We need to keep these new technologies in mind when we are building sites and applications.
Trent Walton’s Non Hover article discusses the issue in a concise manner. I’m wondering if this means that developers will be forced into building multiple versions of a website? And does this now mean that designers will have to think twice and possibly create designs for smaller screens? As Trent says, “there never has been any substitute for concise content, clear interaction, and simple design.”
