Bymark restaurant

Last night, we went to the Bymark for dinner with my in-laws. Bymark is chef Mark McEwan’s new venture, located in the business district downtown.

The food was fantastic (see menu)! I could have feasted on the side serving of Mac & Cheddar and the Seared Foie Gras all night. Although the Butter Braised Lobster Poutine has been highly praised, I didn’t love it. I guess the combination of fries and lobster don’t turn me on. The foie gras on the other hand, melted in your mouth. My mouth waters just thinking about it. It was served atop a sage doughnut with preserved strawberries and a 10 year balsamic. I wanted more, even though they already provided a generous portion of it. Hubby enjoyed it too, though he did not feel the strawberry preserves paired up well. I disagree. I liked the little bit of sweetness. The mac & cheddar had the savory taste and aroma of black truffle. The slivers of not-overcooked bacon was also a nice touch. It was hard not to lick the bowl. My father-in-law had the 22oz bone-in rib-eye which was aged 80 days. It was cooked perfectly and also melted in your mouth. I enjoyed my Miso Black Cod, but it definitely did not beat out the steak. We managed to get through 2 bottles of chianti, so luckily hubby and I took the TTC to dinner because he was in no state to drive home that evening.
