CBC’s Nature of Things provides a fascinating look at how the microbes in your gut may dictate your predisposition to obesity.

Scientists have struggled to explain why one person can eat cake and stay skinny, while another munches on carrots and can’t shed a pound.

Now, exciting new research reveals there is a missing piece to the obesity puzzle, one that is highly complex and intensely personal: gut microbes.

For those that are interested in learning more, Giulia Ender’s book, Gut – The Inside Story of Our Body’s Most Underrated Organ, is an educational read. Ender does a great job of explaining the science behind our gut flora without using difficult terminology. In fact, she even injects a perfect dose of humour.
